Just because you’re new to digital SLR cameras is no excuse to be shooting always on Auto mode. You will get more satisfying results with your brand new Nikon D80 or Canon Rebel XTi (or whatever new DSLR you have) if you know how to use your camera’s full capabilities. Of course, Auto mode isn’t all that bad; it’s even recommended in many situations. But to really get your DSLR to perform the way it was meant to be, you’ve got to understand how a digital SLR camera works.
