Kodak Loves Sony

After years of suits and countersuits, the quarrel between Kodak and Sony is a love affair after all. They’re no longer suing each other; instead, they’ve kissed and made up and decided they could use each other’s talents. So, Kodak signed a cross-license agreement with Sony Corporation and Sony Ericsson allowing the parties to access each other’s patent portfolio; now they’re sharing what they used to fight over.
“We are pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial arrangement that advances the interests of the three companies, beams Laura Quatela, Managing Director, Intellectual Property Transactions, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company.
And that makes good business sense. The synergy of resources will certainly help both Kodak and Sony. Never mind that Quatela says the license agreements are royalty bearing to Kodak; it works both ways.
