One TeraByte Race: Hitachi or Seagate?

The packaging is ready but the product is not there yet. Hitachi and Seagate are locked in a tight race to be the first to produce a One TeraByte hard drive.
Both are saying they plan to have drives capable of holding a terabyte – that’s 1000GB – of data on the market in the first half of this year. Hitachi even has a model name (Deskstar 7K1000) and a price tag ($399) ready for its 1TB drive expected to come out in March.
Seagate as yet is mum about the details of their 1TB drive, but both companies will show off their wares at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.
