TECH TALK, So you want a Digital Camera?

by Jamie Nicholson

The first thing that you need to decide when you go to purchase a camera is who is going to use it and what are you going to use it for?
Do you want one with a self timer so you can be in the shot? And how easy is it to use?
If it’s just for family photos then a point and shoot with a low pixel count is good.
As a digital photographer I have investigated many cameras and I feel that for most house holds a 5MP is most you’re going to need. You can go as low as 3MP (yes they are still out there) the best print you’ll get from a 3MP is a 4 X 6. Not to say you can’t print larger it’s the quality we’re going for! (I’ll talk more on that later)
You can get a great 5MP almost any place for $100.00 to $200.00.
And this will give you good quality 8 X 10 prints.
A good place to compare cameras and get camera reviews is digital photography review at this site you can choose by brand find the camera you want and they even give price comparison, just check the dates that the review was made. This is a more in-depth place to search and gives great reviews about the product. I would use this site if you know exactly what you are looking for. Another great place to compare cameras if price and easy read is more your style is C/net reviews at this site you can compare by pricing, resolution or manufacture.
I will keep you up to date on the latest camera releases on my Friday blogs.
